The following movie review is free of studio or advertiser sway.

Friday night under unique circumstances I went and saw 17 Again.

The circumstances are not relevant for this review.

Of course I had low low expectations going into this film. I think we would all expect that. I was pleasantly surprised with this film. I had a glimmer of hope that it might not cause internal bleeding when I was informed by an associate that Roger Ebert gave favorable reviews.

This film was entertaining and genuinely humorous. One character especially stood out and pulled off the "side kick steals the show" routine. I must admit... that Zac Efron is a good little actor. Besides being excessively handsome, he had some real heart. Unlike Leo Dicaprio, I don't mind admitting that he is good at his craft. The movie did not take itself to serious which worked greatly in its favor.

I would recommend this movie at a proper place and time. The place: Movie theater on 34th st. The time: before noon. The reason: the ticket is half the price. Half price is the right price.
