My first day back from Utah I went to the last day of the Banksy Art Show. It was on 27th st and 1oth ave. Banksy is English.
Banksy is an artists that causes problems for people. He likes to do stencils and spray paint them around major world cities. Some people call this graffiti or vandalism. Others call it art. Here is a good example of Banksy's Art. He takes a simple nice thing like old ladies lawn bowling and pairs them with something nasty like bombs. Nothing wrong with old British ladies enjoying a round of lawn bowling with bombs... is there? Yes... this is genious. In a book of Banksy's art, this piece is paired with what I presume is Banksy's comment which is something to the affect that "People who wake up before 10 start wars". Banksy's Junxipose (that's for you Jared Clark) is showing "polite and proper" society as it is projected as a model to follow. Then his slight hook (in this case the bombs) gives us a subtle thought that perhaps everything is not "polite and proper" in "polite and proper" society. This is art.
Here again... We see an attack helicopter. An agent of destruction, dressed nicely with a pink bow.

This is one of my favs. Grandma's that are down for the cause.
Banksy then reverses his position. Taking away the bad and replacing with the ridiculous.
Next he states his family tree.
Does this remind you of anyone?
Notice in the bottom left hand corner. We enjoyed this show with Mos Def, a popular music artist.
As you can see... even though this was the last day... it was quite popular. The general public does not know who Banksy is. He has committed too many "crimes" to be a public figure under his name given at birth. But I have a fantasy that it's the guy with the poncho on. Just look at how he stares at me as I take this picture. Just like Venice Noir says, "You can't be unhappy in a poncho... it's impossible."

So that was it. It was a great welcome back to the city. I hope you have come to appreciate Banksy as we took this tour.
